Temporary Member Ban posted on Friday, October 13, 2006

Due to a number of complaints and because of the behavior exhibited when asked to cease what has been taken as harassment, the CoM has decided that Kallina Xoes Owens be banned from the SWV boards and IRC server for the time of a week, not including the time she has already been removed from IRC. This ban begins immediately and will end Thursday, October 19th, 2006. This vote was unanimous in favor of the ban.

Should this behavior continue once the ban is lifted, it shall be reinstated for the period of two months. If it does not stop then, it will be permanent. While the CoM and the SWV Administration does not ban players lightly, we will not tolerate this kind of behavior. As usual, any questions may be addressed to myself or any other member of the CoM.

Leadership Change posted on Friday, October 6, 2006

As of a few weeks ago, William Ravyn stepped down as de facto leader of the Rebel Alliance (Alliance to Restore the Republic) faction. He appointed Elliot Drake as his successor.

The Administration, after some deliberation, has officially established Mr. Drake as leader of the RA.

Congratulations, Elliot.

SWV Version 2.0 posted on Sunday, August 20, 2006

As promised to the members for our 2nd Anniversary, SWVisions now has a new website. I hope you enjoy the new look and layout.

There will be several additions and possibly some changes as content from the v1 site is still being worked on, but most of the original site content has already been converted and is useable. Also keep an eye out for new announcements, additions to this site, and rules upgrades from the admins.

Coming this August... Biennial Celebrations! posted on Tuesday, June 20, 2006

Yes Visionaries, we are nearing our two year anniversary. We've come far, but we still have a long road ahead of us. We're growing, slower than when we first opened, but that is expected.

Our goals for this August:

• A revamped Galactic Map. Our goal is to canonize it completely, so expect to see some systems moved around a bit as they're placed into more appropriate positions. I blame Math's dreaded Force Sneeze!

• Revamped stats and entirely new rule sets, including those over aspects of the game not yet before implemented!

• Much, much more...

What other things are in store? Only time will tell. Just remember folks, every group needs members. Try to go out and recruit. You don't even need to know the person well, just give them the good word and a link. Hopefully they'll enjoy the sense of community we share.

If you have any suggestions on what we should do this August, please let us know! We in the Administration are here for you.

The Grand Canonization Project posted on Monday, May 22, 2006

As you may have noticed, some names on the SWV Rules ship pages have been changed. This is to better represent their true canon name and/or designation, rather than slang or just whatever Alex felt like calling it! *grin*

If you know of any other that are improperly named (the Modified Escort Carrier of the Rebels bugs me as it has to have a better canon name, assuming it's canon), please inform myself.

Also on the canonization front, Math and Jacen are working on moving star systems around to their more canon locations, as well as adding in even more. This is to better flesh out our Galaxy. Once the Galaxy itself is more or less complete, individual system maps can be constructed. Then, later on, the maps of each and every world within our growing Galaxy!

Though we're obviously not purely canon, we do try to keep what should be canon within that general bracket.

Oh, and suggest the Vong or their damned living world and expect a butt whooping.

Encyclopedia Creation and a Contest posted on Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Greetings Visionaries!

I wish to announce the creation of the SWVisions Encyclopedia, an online wikipedia for SWV's use. Fun, eh? http://www.swvisions.com/wiki/

It will have both IC and OOC uses and, hopefully, become an excellent resource for our membership.

Also, though the reward is to be determined, we are seeking a SWVisions logo. Something unique that will identify us as us. A Star Wars feel without that nasty little copyright infringement aspect! Interested? Please submit entries here: http://forums.swvisions.com/viewtopic.php?t=1261

The Community shall vote on the logo which they believe best represents us, as per our tradition of democracy.

As you may have noticed... posted on Thursday, April 13, 2006

Effective immedately, the Hapes Cluster is an independent star system controlled by a non-player Government. It is NOT attackable by other player groups until further notice.

Hapans as a player race have now become open to anyone. However they must seek Administration consent, approval of their character background in particular, before making said character.

Any questions can be directed towards admin@swvisions.com

Thank you.

Board problems posted on Sunday, February 19, 2006

Unfortunately, we're having a little trouble with the forums again. Hopefully they can be fixed, and we'll keep you up to date. Until then, I encourage you to keep checking back for more news - the Administration will make a post here when we've managed to fix everything (and what, if anything, we've lost :P)

EDIT: Boards are back online :)

Forum Move & Changes posted on Friday, October 28, 2005

As many of you know, the swv.red-raven.net forums are down. Unfortunately, our backup was a few weeks old, but the forums are now up at http://forums.swvisions.com

Also, as many of you know, Anak resigned as an Administrator. Math was elected by the members of this simulation to replace him. Welcome Math as our new Administrator.

Year Two Month 1 posted on Thursday, September 1, 2005

Greetings SWVisionaries:

The Administration wishes all of you starting your school years (no matter if college, Junior High, Senior High, or Middle school) the best of luck. Education will provide a cornerstone to your future and open doors otherwise not accessible to you.

The Star Wars Visions RPG is steadily improving, being fleshed out more and more. While we do frequently get new members, some go inactive. We in the Administration would like to know why. What can we do to improve the game? Remember, we're here to represent you, the players. We are always willing to help you and always willing to consider your ideas. Unlike the admins of many games, we realize that without you, we simply couldn't exist. The present Administration was elected by the player body. We represent you and are definitely there to listen.

I'd also like to announce the start of SWVisions' first Historical Campaign. Here we will go back in time 5000 years to play out some of the lesser known battles of the Great Hyperspace War, when the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire first went head to head. The technology is primitive but the fight for survival no less real. You may choose to be a warrior with the Sith Empire or an officer of the Galactic Republic. The choice is yours and has no repercussions on your present character. You can find the information for the RP at:
http://swv.red-raven.net/viewforum.php?f=33
We plan on starting it by Monday September 5th, 2005 at the latest.

And remember folks, recruit! All factions need many more active members. The more members, the more varied the RPs.

Thank you for your patronage.

Temporary Ban posted on Wednesday, August 17, 2005

Katria Vassileva has been banned both from the forums and chat server until August 29th.

Specifics will not be disclosed, but let me make it plain and clear to everyone that flaming other members either in PM or in our public channels will not be tolerated.

A specific set of rules regarding IRC conduct will be posted on the SWV site and Forums in the coming days. We shouldn't have to spell out what will not be tolerated as far as behavior goes, but in light of this recent episode, we hope that further bans can be avoided by doing such.

A banning posted on Saturday, July 30, 2005

Erion Graveski is hereby permanently banned from the SWVisions simulation. Reasons include deleting work done on the sim client, not excluding work done by Rhou, as well as threatening to hack the SWVisions client and servers.

Should he attempt this, the proper authorities WILL be contacted and he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This decision was unanimous by the Administration and was reached after a few days of discussion. We don't take perma-bans, or any ban for that matter, lightly.

One Year Ago! posted on Saturday, June 25, 2005

The seeds for Star Wars Visions began to be planted. When August 7th rolls around, SWVisions will be a year old.

We're growing constantly and I'd like to thank you, the members, for that.

As is tradition with our anniversaries, we may have a suprise or two in store for you.

We have around a hundred members right now, however everyone is ALWAYS encouraged to recruit.

Good luck and have a great summer, folks! Just remember to stay active here. :P

Not four score, but... posted on Saturday, February 5, 2005

That's right folks. On August 7th 2004 we first opened our doors to the public.

Though the Battle of Yavin scenario is progressing slowly, the sim itself is quite active. I congratulate each and every one of you.

However, we all must continue to work our very best so that Star Wars Visions lasts two dozen more milestones like this at the very least. Recruit. Not just for your group, but for the sim itself.

If you have an idea on how to improve the sim, tell us! Just keep it realistic. And no, saying you want a fully programmed game surpassing SWC does not count as realistic. =P

On February 7th, join us in #SWV on irc.ionblast.net and/or irc2.ionblast.net and let's celebrate our six month anniversary.

The Administration may have a few suprises for you. :)

SWV Forums & A Milestone posted on Saturday, January 29, 2005

Wryn is presently working on getting the new topic description modification fully operational, so hold on and sit tight as she works on the boards.

Also note that she officially added The Order, The Doashim's Claw and the Church of Quicquid as selectable groups. Set your affiliation to your proper faction if you've joined.

Also... We're quickly nearing our SIXTH month of operation. While not long compared to the big boys, we have grown incredibly and it doesn't seem to truly be slowing. People join us from the other sims due to our friendly environment and our pure RP style.

If you know someone who likes Star Wars or to Role Play, invite them! They might not want to join your group, but so what? You can oppose each other in character but still be friends out of character. Trust me, it's common here.

Keep having fun, and if you have any issues, contact me. I'll do my best to work any problem out.

Map and Faction Update posted on Friday, January 21, 2005

The SWV Administration would like to officially welcome the following groups to the sim...

The Doashim's Claw - Pirate Faction
First Universal Church of Quicquid - Religious Faction
The Order - Mercenary Faction

Links to their sites (if applicable) have already been added to the SWV site.

In other news, the SWV map version 2 is completed. After review by the other two admins, any changes (if any) will then be made. The finished product will replace the current map once that is completed. For now, the map as it is today can be viewed in the Development Area.

5 Month Anniversary! posted on Saturday, January 8, 2005

That's right, it's been five months since we opened our doors. We're quickly closing in on our 5000th post as well as quickly gaining new members. Soon we'll have to celebrate our 100th member joining.

On behalf of the Administrative staff:

Thank you.

We realize that, without you, we simply wouldn't exist. We're here to have fun and roleplay. Let's continue that, shall we?

Happy Holidays and Sim Updates posted on Saturday, December 25, 2004

From all the SWV Administration and Staff, we wish you Happy Holidays and a safe New Years. Don't do anything stupid, folks. We do care about your safety.

On to sim related news... The Administration has finalised the rules for Character Death, Defections, Spying and Intelligence gathering. These go side by side with our already existing rules, such as no unregistered multi accounts, godmoding and rumor mongering. We're hardliners when it comes to enforcing the rules. It's not difficult to follow them. The new rules can be found at: http://www.swvisions.com/L-Policies.htm

On another note, we may soon be receiving the addition of a new Visions faction. This group will be our first religious faction, upping our faction count to four if it is approved.

Hapes and NPC Governments posted on Thursday, December 16, 2004

The Hapes Consortium has been dissolved as a prospective group due to real life circumstances many members had. This is a shame as I truly hoped for it to become a key part of the Visions community.

However, the Administration is currently discussing NPC governments. Some would be under the control of current factions, but would be an important aspect of our role playing environment.

Suggested governments include:
- Bacta Cartels (Thyferra - Pro-Imperial)
- Bothan Council (Bothan Space - Marginally pro-Alliance, officially neutral)
- Chiss Ascendancy (Chiss space - Marginally pro-Imperial, will fire on any incomming craft)
- Corellian Diktat (Corellian Sector - Pro-Imperial)
- Corporate Sector Authority (Corporate Sector - Imperial controlled, yet willing to sell to all)
- Duros Congomerate (Duros - Imperial aligned)
- Hapes Consortium (Hapes Cluster - Imperial dominated, against anything non-Hapan)
- Hutt Council (Hutt Space - Neutral, out for profit)
- Mon Calamari Council (Mon Calimari - Pro-Alliance, under Imperial domination)

If you have other ideas for NPC governments, please let us know. The more we flesh out our universe, the better the experience for all.

I would love to see some eventually become full Factions within Visions, however that is a secondary goal.
